I am going on a ladies' retreat this weekend, so the guys are on their own! David and Jacob will be going to a wedding tonight and then hanging out together all weekend. I will be at Camp Barakel relaxing, not changing diapers, not cleaning up after them, not cooking, and having a great time. I will miss telling Jacob good night and his giggles, and I will miss David, but I think they will have some good father/son bonding time while I get a good Mommy recharge! Back on Sunday!

Signs of fall...
I am seeing more signs of fall around our house.
- The air is cool, while the sun is warm. It just feels different!
- The leaves are slowly starting to change colors. It was pretty driving to church yesterday.
- Kids are wearing jackets when they get on the bus and have them stuffed in backpacks when they get off.
- Our yard looks like it needs raked (and mowed after all the rain!).
- I am making applesauce today! A very fall thing to do!
While fall is not my favorite season (probably because it comes right before winter), there are some things I enjoy about it. I am looking forward to Jacob playing in leaves (and maybe eating some!), corn mazes, pumpkins, cider, and days when you just need a big pot of soup making the whole house smell good and feel warm! Enjoy the summery weather while it lasts, because I think fall is here to stay.

Doctor Visit
Jacob had his one year check-up today. He also got three shots. :( He seems to be handling it pretty well so far. Anyway, here are his stats:
Weight: 18 lb. 15oz. (he is just above the fifth percentile which means he is not underweight anymore! Yay!)
Height: 31 inches (this is the 75th percentile. He grew almost three inches in two months!)
According to the doctor he is healthy and growing just fine. Now we're just waiting for him to hit the 20 lb. mark so we can flip his car seat around!

Ohio Trip
David and I had a great time in Ohio last week visiting friends. This groups of friends has gotten together every summer since we graduated from college and it was wonderful to see them all again. That's no small feat considering we live in 3 different states, one was in China for two years, and we are coordinating 5 different schedules! It was a great weekend to relax and spend time with friends that was definitely needed after the craziness of last week! Here are a few pictures.

Home Again and Gone Again
We made it through the bridge walk! It was a crazy weekend with little sleep, but we did have a good time. I think David and I were both a little bit stressed because we both got sick when we got home. I had a terrible cold for a few days and David had a touch of the stomach flu, but both of us are on the mend. The kids had a great time (even if some did run out of money by Sunday night!). Here are a few pictures from the walk to enjoy.

Lots of people
Jacob had the easiest walk of all of us.
He was very tired after little sleep and getting up at 5 am.
Walking across the finish line

Now we are getting ready to go to Ohio this weekend to see my college roommate. It will be a lot of fun, but a long trip. Then next week, we are celebrating Jacob's 1st birthday! It's hard to believe he's almost a year old already!
